Archimède - Racing Submarine Team
LocationMontreal, Quebec, Canada
Mission Statement, History and Description
Archimède is a society from Polytechnique Montreal regrouping approximately twenty students from different fields of engineering who challenge themselves by designing and building a human powered submarine. Since 1996, Archimède is making the submarine more efficient by optimizing the submarine, developing new mechanisms and improving our manufacturing methods.
Last summer, Archimède VII was put to the test during the 14th edition of the International Submarine Races. In this event, which rates submarines by their speed, Archimède finished second in its division. This year, with the same hull, we are changing our systems. Here is a list of some of our main changes: variable pitch propulsion, simplified transmission, mechanical Deadman switch, computer-aided steering system, stabilizing fins and more. We are confident that our efforts will make it possible to achieve our overall objective: to rank as one of the world's top 3 teams at the eISR 2018.
